Description

Like his first game, Echo Quadrant , Freeman69's second title is concerned with ships and trading. The ships however in this case are the aquaticfloating variety that have sales and ores, and while less likely to be blasted with lasers by hoards of rampaging space fleets, they do risk springing a leak and ending up in Davy Jones' locker.

Treasure islands is a game of navigation and precise sailing. Use the arrow keys (or w a s and d), to move your ship around, increasing and decreasing speed and changing your heading using a 360 degree compass, remember 0 degrees is north, 90 is east, 180 is south, and 270 is west. The object of the game is simple, sail your ship from port to port, buying maps of the various islands you come across, taking cargos from one port to another, and heading out into the depths of the ocean to dive for hidden treasures. The only problem is the age old difficulty of getting from a to be, especially when there are many rocks, reefs, shoals and miles of unfriendly coastline between you and B.

Though there is no time limit, for the best experience it's advised to treat Treasure islands as the faster, more action game it was intended to be, attempting to get from one place to another, discover new ports and keep track of your bearings at a high speed, rather than drifting along slower than a sea turtle.

While the initial beginner's map containing three islands and a hand full of ports seems easy to navigate, several other maps are available which will truly test your helmsmanship, with dozens of ports and missions trading between them, lots of treasures to dig up, narrow channels between lowering rocks, and even estuaries to be navigated. Furthermore, if you run out of maps to play on you can have the game generate one for you at random.

Though the game's soundscape is fairly spare there is enough for atmosphere, and you will find it necessary to use all the tools at your command from maps to audio sonar in order to be a successful treasure hunter and ply your trade across the 7 seas.

The game will output directly to Jaws, Window eyes, Nvda, Supernova, System access or can self voice with Sapi, and best of all, it won't cost you a brass fake dubloon to buy.
